Before I was even pregnant, Thomas and I used to talk about how much fun it would be to take our kids to the pond to see the ducks. We used to live right across the street from it, so we took walks and had picnics there on the regular. We haven't gone over there in almost a year because it was under construction for a while and then it got pretty cold. We finally had a chance to take Oliver over there this weekend, and he had a blast!
We were shocked that he wasn't afraid of the ducks, especially with them getting so close to him! As soon as he saw them when he got out of the car he started flailing his arms about, pointing and shouting "Duh! Duh! Duh!"
It's such a gift to watch his personality unfold. He is so curious and full of wonder for the world around him. It makes the ordinary parts of life so much more fun! Being around him makes it obvious why God says we must become like children to enter the kingdom of heaven. I can't help being thankful for all the little things in life when I witness his appreciation for them.
I'm so thankful for our family time on the weekends, and I see many trips to the "duh" pond ahead this spring!
