7 Quick Takes Friday

7 quick takes sm1 7 Quick Takes about the big day, a trailer for a trailer, and a dare to come up with a better prize than a Segway vacuum

Hi friends! It's been two months without blogging, and they have certainly been two busy, busy months.  I'm not sure how often I will blog, but I think I will still try to continue, although it will likely be infrequently.  I value my family time so much more now that I'm working, so I'm only going to be blogging if Oliver is sleeping and Thomas is at work.

Work is going well!  The first week was really, really tough.  I think it was much harder on me than it was on Oliver, but now we've gotten into a groove.  I'm really thankful to be working with such cute kids all day, to have my caseload at safe schools, to have great hours, and to have the time and ability to pump.

Another reason why I haven't been blogging is because we bought a house!!! We have been super busy packing, moving, and now painting, unpacking everything, and getting settled.

We moved into a brand new neighborhood with mostly small, three bedroom houses, and we love it!! It was important to us to find a neighborhood with young kids and enough streets to go for walks/runs everyday and we are so thankful to have found that.  Our neighborhood consists of mostly young couples and families, and there are lots of little kids and babies! :)  Our backyard backs right onto a farm, so it makes for a good view when the sky is blue and the sun is out!

We still have a lot to do, but we're making progress! It's so exciting turning a house into a home! We are feeling so thankful and in awe that God has made it possible for us to own a home. It doesn't seem real yet!

Our little sweet pea turned four months old.  He is such a happy baby and we fall more and more in love with him everyday (cliche, I know).  He has started laughing now, and it melts our hearts every time.  He's absolutely delighted by his daddy, which make me melt even more. He rolls from his back to his side and occasionally from his belly to his back. He's so observant, loves books and baths, and puts anything he can find straight into his mouth. His hair is getting a reddish tint now, his eyes are still a beautiful shade of blue, and he's more chunky than ever. We're so blessed and thankful to be his mom and dad.  Even though most babies go through the same pattern of development, it's so special getting to witness and celebrate all of our own child's milestones.

Easter was quiet and simple - our first one celebrating as a family of three!  We had just moved on Saturday, so we we spent a lot of the day unpacking and we ended the night eating fondue on the couch.

-6-
We went to my parent's house one weekend to celebrate mine, my mom’s, and my sister’s April birthdays with a picnic at the park and some homemade chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake made by my awesome mama!

Back at home, Thomas gave me two birthday celebrations - an evening picnic during the week and then a night out for Indian food and a festival on the weekend. Love, love, love my boys.

This book. Oh man, it's good. Really good.  I loved it and I'm pretty sure I'm going to re-read it soon.  If I ever have time I'll write about it, but for now I'll just say that I highly recommend it!

  7. So glad things are going well for you. Congratulations on your home! What a special place it will be as you fill it with love and memories. I am so happy that all is working out well for you with work and mothering... I knew it would! Your family Easter picture was adorable and can I tell you that when you look back 20 years from now you will FONDLY remember your FAVORITE Easter ever married. You'll say, "do you remember that first Easter as parents when we had just moved into our home? All we did was unpack and eat on the couch... but it was the most wonderful of all" You'll say that in 20 years... I know you will. Hugs to you... I pray for you every day. Blessings to you and your sweet family. Love, tara

  11. Hi Caitlin, I'm a Catholic single mom of 5 boys. Your son is adorable. I miss those days! Now my oldest is 16 and they are always dirty and smelly and into something FAR from adorable, but ya gotta love them anyway! ;) Treasure these sweet moments! They pass far too quickly as I'm sure you've already been told! I also love seeing your "Bump" photos. What a great idea! I wish I had thought of it...luckily someday (hopefully!) I'll have lots of daughter-in-laws! God Bless you and your family.
