Life Lately & Quickly Answered Prayers

So much has been going on with us in the span of just a few short months!  Since the beginning of last year, Thomas and I have been praying for direction on where God wanted us to be after I graduated.  We figured with the baby coming and our apartment lease ending in May, we'd start looking for jobs around March/April time and see what came up.

Well, God answered our prayers much more quickly (and gave us a different answer) than we expected!  At the end of last year, Thomas was not even looking for a job, but an advertising company he worked with through the newspaper extended a job offer to him.  He was really excited about it, as he has been wanting to do something like that for quite a while.  We prayed for obstacles if God didn't want him to be there, but everything seemed to line up just right.  He started in January and has really been enjoying it!

Shortly after he found out about the job, a job opportunity for an OT came up a in a school system, and I decided to apply for it, although I thought that they might want someone immediately and probably would not wait for me to start working.  I interviewed when I was heavily pregnant (haha) and found out that they actually had someone leaving for maternity leave in March, so it would have been perfect timing for a contract position once Oliver was 12 weeks old. However, then a full time job opened up, and I received an offer and will be starting in March!  I also found out this morning that I passed my board certification, so I am all set to start working!  It is such a huge relief and blessing to be completely done with studying forever, and I am so excited to finally start working in a field that I love! I am also really thankful to be working in a school system, which means I'll have family friendly hours and summer break with my sweet little man.

Speaking of Oliver, that TWO MONTH old baby is lighting up our lives through it all (my two month letter to him is coming soon)! He is such a joy!  Another blessing and answer to our prayers is that a retired woman from our church who does Life Teen with us is going to watch him at our apartment once I start working. We're so grateful to have someone we know and trust to take care of him while we're gone!

Praise be to God from whom all good things flow!  It's amazing how he's made all the pieces come into place in such a short amount of time.  We weren't expecting that his answer to our prayers would be to stay here for the time being, but we know he has good reasons and we know that he is always faithful to his promises.  I'm excited to see what he has in store!

Now that my big exam is behind me, I'm hoping to get back into blogging a little bit more!  For now, I better get back to hanging out with my guys!  Thomas has been off of work since Tuesday afternoon because of the snow, and all this family time has been the best way to end the stressful studying, the exam, and waiting for the results.

  5. Congratulations!!! God's plans are always better than our own. Working at a school is perfect for a family - the summers off will be a blessing! I am a teacher and we're expecting our first baby this April, and I am so thankful we have the summer off. I still don't know how I came across your blog, but I love it! Thank you for taking the time to post! FYI - the baby photos are making me sooo excited for our little boy to get here! Congratulations again!

  9. Congrats on the new job! I'm looking forward to your future blog posts as a working mom. I'm due in 7 weeks but have to return to work after my FMLA runs out. My head is already swimming wondering how I'll keep up breastfeeding/pumping/arranging child care, etc. with my crazy shift work. So many Catholic blogging mommies stay at home; it's nice to hear the perspectives of moms in situations more like my own.
