36 Week Bumpdate

It is surreal to think that in about a month our lives will be forever changed as we enter parenthood. We are soaking up these last few weeks of being together as just the two of us, but we're also beyond excited for life as a family of three to begin!

Our baby:

  • He is about 6 pounds!
  • All of the systems in his body are ready to go, with the exception of his digestive system, which will kick into gear once he's born and starts eating.

Best Parts of this Week: These both actually happened last week, but I forgot to write about them!

  • Thomas came home with a present for me (but really for the baby) last Friday, which was a sweet little white onesie with his initials on it! :)  He ordered one from one of his monogramming customers at work, and they gave it to him for free!
  • At our last midwife appointment Thomas got to feel the baby's head AND stick his head on my belly to hear the baby's heart beating!  I had no idea it was even possible to hear his heartbeat like that.  His face was so priceless!

Symptoms:  Exhaustion.  Continued back and rib pain. Getting up 500 times in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.  The start of some swelling - I had difficulty taking my rings off at night this week!  However, I am overall incredibly thankful that it has been a healthy and smooth pregnancy.

Cravings: Sweets - nothing new or unusual there :)

Funny/Weird Things: I think I have started the whole nesting thing!  I have felt so compelled this weekend to clean, clean, and clean - the inside of drawers, cabinets, and closets - anything and everything!  I think hitting the one month left mark has caused me to feel the need to do everything I can to get the apartment in order before he gets here, especially since it's always possible that he could come early!

Other:  We are excited because our Bible study group is throwing us a mini baby shower tomorrow night before Bible study!  We feel so blessed to be a part of such a loving community who cares so much about us and our baby!

  1. Caitlin...I am so excited for you! Thank you for sharing this with us!!!

Can't wait to meet your sweetie!!!! : )

  2. I can't imagine how excited you must be!! And how neat that your husband got to hear the heartbeat and feel the head at your last appointment. I've never seen the OB/GYNs that I've worked with do that, I'll have to file it away for future reference :)

  3. Do you know how much you've progressed so far?

  4. So excited for you both! He'll be here before you know it :o) Enjoy these last few weeks! I remember that I was so antsy to meet McCartney, but Ben kept reassuring me that the longer she was in there the better because that's when the most brain development takes place :o) For some reason, that was what kept me sane those last few weeks!

  5. I have the same maternity blouse - twinsies! Score for Kohl's clearance :)

You look so cute, and I can't wait to meet your little boy soon!!!!!

  6. Prayers coming your way as you prepare to deliver! Please consider posting quickly before you leave for the hospital to let us all know. That way we can all pray while you are in labor.

  7. Exciting! :-) And as always, you look beautiful future mama!

  8. You look stunning! Prayers to St Gerard for a healthy labor and delivery for momma and baby.

  9. You are so close to meeting that sweet boy of yours :) Congrats on ending your rotations and good luck with your board exams. So excited for you and everything you have coming up!
