29 Week Bumpdate

We flew back into town late on Sunday night after visiting my in-laws and then we had Bible study Monday night, so I'm finally getting around to writing an update!  Baby boy is growing and growing, and so am I!

Our Baby:

  • He is about 2.5 pounds and a little over 15 inches long!
  • My midwife said I should feel him a minimum of 10 times once a day in a two hour period from now until the end of pregnancy...not a problem at all considering the fact that this little guy is quite the active one, and I feel him all the time!
  • His head is growing much bigger to make room for his growing brain.

Best Parts of this Week:

  • Thomas and I both felt what most certainly had to have been baby hiccups!  A few weeks ago I thought it was crazy when I read that I would be able to feel them soon.I didn't think I would be able to differentiate them from his regular movements, but they were so rhythmic and much softer than his regular movements!
  • One night before bed, Thomas was repeatedly kissing my belly and saying "I love you" to our sweet boy, who wiggled and wiggled about each time after Thomas kissed him!  This baby sure does love his daddy already! :)

Cravings:
  • I thought I might just die if I didn't get pizza on Friday! I gave into the craving after 9pm on our layover!

Symptoms:
  • I don't think I will be getting a decent night of sleep for quite a while now! Restless legs, heartburn, waking up a million times to go to the bathroom, dreaming and dreaming, getting really hot in the middle of the night...it goes on and on!  I am trying to remember to pray when I'm lying awake instead of grumbling...working on that one! ;)  I'm exhausted all the time, but I suppose it's just preparation for the months to come!

Other:
  • Thankfully I got positive results from my glucose test and do not have gestational diabetes!  Our little man's heart is beating like a champ, and I am growing more and more restless waiting for his arrival!
  • I am really trying to rev up the protein for this last trimester - any good high protein dinner suggestions?

Even though I'm always tired, I am overwhelmed with joy! God is so good and so generous, and he continues to be faithful to us throughout this period of waiting!

  1. He looks like he's growing well! We really enjoy this recipe.

    Taco Bean Soup

1 can of drained ranch style beans
    1 can of drained corn
1 can of rotel or diced tomatoes
    1 package of taco seasoning

  3. In my final trimester I tried to make sure I had snacks on hand at work that were high in protein: Greek yogurt, peanut butter, cottage cheese--that sort of thing! And of course protein at every meal. Then it doesn't feel so hard to get enough :). Congratulations, being a mom is better than anything else I've encountered (and a little bit more challenging, too :) )

    1. I've definitely got my snacks and lunch/breakfast covered, but I'm trying to get the dinners down too! I realized that's where I'm eating the least protein!

LOVE hearing how wonderful it is to be a mom! :) I can't wait for it to get here!

  4. When I was pregnant with Lucia, she had the hiccups all the time but I didn't realize that's what it was until the very, very end (probably the last week!).

So sorry to hear about the heartburn. I can definitely relate to that. The heartburn was so bad for me the last several months - it was by far the worst symptom of my entire pregnancy! Heartburn tea helped though, if you haven't tried it.

  5. If you like spaghetti just make it with turkey meatballs. You can usually get about 14-16 grams in about 3 of them so that's a pretty great way to go. You really can't taste much of a difference especially if you get the ones flavored Italian style.

    1. That would be so great, but I am vegetarian! Maybe I'll do that with some fake meatballs! :)

    1. We got them at two stores by my parent's house, but neither of them are chain stores!

  9. Yup, you look pregnant now! It is such a boy belly, all out front, you're not gaining anywhere else. My boy pregnancies were the easiest weight to lose too,so you have that to look forward to!

  10. I began incorporating chia seeds into my 3rd trimester diet (adding them to yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, etc.). They're an excellent source of many nutrients, but especially healthy fats because they have omega 3s, 6s, and 9s. Great for your little boy's brain development. :) You look great! I'm so happy for you and Thomas!
