27 Week Bumpdate

27 weeks down, and roughly 13 to go!  We are so in love with this baby and think about him and talk about him all.the.time.   We are so, so eager to know what he will look like and be like - what kind of personality he'll develop and who he'll grow up to be!  I'm praying that he'll be as sweet, goofy, and hard-working as his daddy and that he'll love God more than anything.

Our Baby:

  • He is about 14.5 inches and almost 2 pounds!
  • He sleeps and wakes at regular intervals, although I'm pretty sure he's awake most of the time because I feel his movements all the time!
  • He is opening and closing his eyes, and he may even be sucking his thumb (awwww)!
  • His brain is very active because of all the developing brain tissue.
  • His lungs are still not fully developed, but with medical help he would be able to breathe if he was born early now!

Best Parts of this Week
  • We've started educating ourselves since we know nothing about being parents.  I love cuddling up with Thomas at night to read about raising babies as we try to figure out what our style will be!
  • I feel like I write about this every week, but I just can't get over feeling this little boy moving.  Thomas and I watch my belly and feel him move for up to an hour at a time every day!  It's such a tangible reminder of this life that God is forming, and it fills us with so much joy!
Cravings:
  • I went through a few days this week with a strong craving for Ramen noodles! I probably haven't eaten them since freshman year of college, so I have no idea where that craving came from!

Funny/Weird Things:

  • Thomas and I put our faces together on Morph Thing to see our baby's predicted look! We're thinking they just put random baby faces on there because we're not seeing the resemblance haha!

Other: The 4D ultrasound we won at the maternity fair is scheduled for this Thursday!  We are beyond thrilled to have this opportunity to see what our precious baby boy is looking like right now!  It's amazing that there's technology out there to see babies in such detail! I'm sure I'll be posting pictures next week if we have them! :)

  1. Have you started birthing classes yet? I'd highly recommend finding a Bradley method class near you. :)

    1. I looked into it, but they are so expensive! We are going to take a day class at the hospital!

    2. I don't want to be alarmist, but I found a one day class to be very lacking. Make sure you supplement with a lot of your own materials.

    3. If you're interested in Bradley (we were but also didn't want to pay for a class and thought that the 12 weeks straight time commitment might be tough), their book, Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way, is on Amazon and has been a really helpful alternative. I think there's another one, too, called Husband Coached Childbirth. You look as beautiful as ever and I am hoping you share your ultrasound on here!

    4. We only read about the Bradley Method (no class) and it was really helpful! BUT, there are tons of naked lady pictures in it, so we keep it way up high on a shelf that the boys can't get to!

  3. Love your baby bump! Not too much longer!

That's really neat you are both reading books about parenting. I was told once there really are no books of rules or a great parenting style. Just love your children and you learn as you go. It has seemed to work well for us so far. Also when I look into things too much I get overwhelmed so easily, but that's just me :)

    1. I found a bunch of shirts at a consignment warehouse sale for about $4 a piece! I've also been stretching out wearing my regular bottoms by wearing belly bands and am still wearing some regular skirts and dresses! My grandma also bought me a few things from Kohl's! It is SO hard finding maternity stuff though, especially clothes that won't cost an arm and a leg!
