7 Quick Takes Friday: Volume 63

I've gotten through my first week of fieldwork at my new rotation, and I am LOVING it!! It's at a site for adults with intellectual disabilities, and I already adore all of the individuals there.  I just can't help having a smile on my face all day long!

Our camping plans were cancelled last weekend, so we made our own campsite, complete with a "campfire," "tent," and s'mores.  Thomas cracked me up because he put on some nature sounds and then tossed some pinecones across the floor!

Maybe the rain will hold off for real camping Labor Day weekend?

I have been trying to cut back on my sugar intake, but I just had to make these cookies after seeing them on Pinterest.  So messy, and so worth it!

I love this quote from Pope Francis that Patty shared from World Youth Day!  *** EDIT: This quote is actually not from Pope Francis
"We need saints without cassocks, without veils - we need saints with jeans and tennis shoes. We need saints that go to the movies that listen to music, that hang out with their friends. We need saints that place God in first place ahead of succeeding in any career. We need saints that look for time to pray every day and who know how to be in love with purity, chastity and all good things. We need saints - saints for the 21st century with, a spirituality, appropriate to our new time. We need saints that have a commitment to helping the poor and to make the needed social change.

We need saints to live in the world, to sanctify the world and to not be afraid of living in the world by their presence in it. We need saints that drink Coca-Cola, that eat hot dogs, that surf the internet and that listen to their iPods. We need saints that love the Eucharist, that are not afraid or embarrassed to eat a pizza or drink a beer with their friends. We need saints who love the movies, dance, sports, theatre. We need saints that are open, sociable, normal, happy companions. We need saints who are in this world and who know how to enjoy the best in this world without being callous or mundane.

We need saints."

This video that Kari shared made cry my eyes out.

As much as I love my new placement, pregnancy + being on my feet all day leaves me exhausted, and I am thankful for a weekend of refreshment!  We have plans to go to a free festival/concert tonight and to a meeting tomorrow because Thomas and I will be leading the next Bible study

I really can't think of a 7th, but have a wonderful weekend! :)

  2. Is the bible study that you are leading open to all?

  3. I too loved that quote! However it is determined not to be from Pope Francis, but someone merely inspired.
    Just an FYI ;)
