26 Week Bumpdate

It's so funny because I feel huge right now, but I know our baby has A LOT of growing left to do over these next few months.  By the end of the pregnancy I'll probably look back and laugh at the thought of being huge now!

Our Baby:

  • He is about 14 inches long and weighs about 1 2/3 pounds.
  • He is inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, which will prepare him for breathing.
  • His ears are much more sensitive and developed, and he should definitely be able to hear us now! We're probably driving him crazy in there with talking to him so much! :)

Best Moments This Week:
  • One of the sweet, sweet individuals at fieldwork came up to me and said "Big belly!" and patted my belly.  I told him there's a baby in there, and throughout the rest of the week he would gently rub my belly when he saw me.  It is so sweet!
  • We went to a concert last night and he was so, so active! I hope it meant he liked the music! :)

Cravings: Salty, buttery popcorn - Yum!

Symptoms: Unfortunately, I decided I am going to stop running.  I was really hoping I would make it to our 5 miler in 2 weeks, but some of those really little muscles I never even thought about before just can't handle the weight of the growing baby.   I spent so much time looking into whether or not running is bad for your baby (it's not) that I missed out on the fact that it's not so good for the mom, or else I would have stopped earlier!

We continue to be amazed by the growth of our sweet baby boy, and CAN'T WAIT to meet him!  Such an incredible miracle!

  2. You are rocking that glow, Caitlin! And he will love music! When I was pregnant with Flynn, every time we went to Mass and the music started, she moved like crazy!!! And also...true story here...I had a certain song on my phone as my ringtone during my pregnancy. When Flynn was born, that song was the only thing that wound comfort her during her fussy times!!! I swear!!! And she loves music now. She sings all the time! : )

  4. Yeah my muscles make me stop running at 5 months pregnant. Fast walking really kept me in shape though. 3 to 6 miles a day. You look awesome!

  8. Those "active" moments - when you still have room even though you don'e feel like you do - are the best. Months 4-6 of pregnancy were my honeymoon phase of the pregnancy. Then you really start running out of room :) You look great!

  9. You are not big... just adorable really! Those last few weeks, now "that's big" I remember! :) I too was a runner. One morning around four months I remember running and pushing three year old Anna in a jogging stroller and it was just so hard. A long time runner I couldn't imagine stopping for anything but I knew that day it was time to give my all to the miracle and work that my body was doing. That was my 'exercise' from then on... just letting my body do what it had to do. Don't worry, you'll run again and it's so so much fun to push your baby in a jogging stroller. I remember my first 5k with a jogging stroller when Anna was just 20 months. What a blast! We matched colors and everyone cheered for us. Better than any marathon or half marathon I'd ever done! Kids just make everything so much better... oh I'm rambling... just so excited to watch all of this unfold for you. Enjoy that salty popcorn ~ tara

I know the feeling of feeling huge.... everyday you think I can't possibly get any bigger... then somehow you do! :) You certainly are wearing the pregnancy well though. I love seeing all cute the bump pictures!

  12. My babies were always more active when music was playing. I would sing "You are Mine" by David Haas to Lucia when she was in the womb and she would calm down when I sang that to her after she was born. I love that song!
