17 Week Bumpdate

Well, 17 weeks along and I'm still in that awkward stage of having only a slight bump! As someone at church said today, "I wasn't sure if you had been eating too much recently or if you had a little baby in there!"  Haha guess I better go back to the loose shirts until it's a little more pronounced! ;)

Our Baby:
  • The baby is about 5 inches long and weighs about 5 oz.
  • The baby's cartilage has started hardening into bone.
  • The sweat glands have started developing.

Best parts of the week:
  • Today we had a goodbye party for our priests who are leaving, and one of them blessed our sweet little baby! We just loved it!
  • We got a Kohl's $5 off $5 card in the mail, and Thomas said they only do that because you'll end up spending more than $5 (which is so true).  However, I found these sweet little gender neutral (at least I think they're not too girly...) PJs for the baby for $4.80.  AND I had a 20% off coupon, so they didn't trick me into spending money this time! ;)
I mean, how could I resist sweet little footsies like this?

Cravings: Cheese, cheese, and more cheese, ice cream (per usual) and orange juice.  I guess the baby needs some calcium and Vitamin C!

Aversions: I sometimes still struggle to make myself eat vegetables.  I was that way throughout the whole first trimester, and this week I just had no desire to eat them.

Symptoms:  The passing out thing - it's starting to get old now, baby!  On a plus note, I haven't had a pimple in weeks, which is shocking!

Funny Things:  Thomas and I read this on Baby Center and were pretty concerned: "Starting to feel a bit off balance? As your belly grows, your center of gravity changes, so you may begin to occasionally feel a little unsteady on your feet."  Oh. Dear. I am THE clumsiest person in the world - you probably remember me fracturing my knee when I tripped on a run last year!  I am about to be in big trouble over these next few months and better be a little more careful! ;)

Other: TEN days until we get to find out who this precious gift from God is! We are SO eager to find out if the baby is a he or a she!

As Thomas said on our run/walk this morning, "I am so ridiculously, unbelievably excited about this baby that I can't even put it into words."   We are beyond eager to meet this sweet little person!  We are overwhelmed by God's goodness and can't thank Him enough for blessing us with this child!

  4. Haha, I have had more beautiful skin (far fewer pimples) ever since I got pregnant. Isn't that such a nice surprise if/when you discover you're one of those people?? I know pregnancy hormones can make some people break out worse, but in my case it has helped a lot. You look so happy and beautiful in your bumpdate photos!!! And I love those PJs!

  6. Have you checked out this website yet? http://www.ehd.org/

We found it through Fr. Frank Pavone from Priests for Life. They have a DVD you can buy as well. It's really awesome to see what the baby is doing inside the womb, what they look like, and how big they are!

I can't wait to hear whether your baby is a boy or girl! I hope we get to hear the baby's name too :)

    1. Oooo thank you so much, Kari! I will definitely look into that. We can't get enough of reading/seeing everything that is going on!

I am still up in the air on whether or not I'll be sharing the baby's name on the blog! I just can't decide!

  11. My bump popped somewhere between weeks 18 and 19--I know every mama is different, but regardless I'm definitely thinking you've got an actual baby, not just a food baby, going on =) You look so beautiful and I can't wait to hear if its a little boy or little girl who will get to wear those adorable duck footies
