"For you make me jubilant, Lord, by your deeds;
at the work of your hands I shout for joy.
How great are your works, Lord!
How profound your purpose!"
- Psalm 92:5-6I am in complete and total awe of God's creative power and miraculous ways. This pregnancy is making us fall more and more in love with God and more and more in love with each other. It's amazing how much we love this precious child, who we haven't even met yet.
I am also completely in awe of how much greater God's plans are for us than our own. I was just devastated when I didn't get into my top choice for grad school, but God brought us right where we needed to be. We joined an amazing, supportive church and our eyes were opened to ditching contraception to use Natural Family Planning. We soon started discerning a family as we became more and more open to the gift of life. And now we have this precious little child on the way who probably never would have been born if things had gone according to our own plan! It seriously makes me cry to think about the fact that we might have never had this gift if things went the way I wanted them to go. How awesome is God?!
And yes, life is going to be totally crazy with finishing fieldwork, having a baby, graduating, potentially moving, and looking for jobs, but hey, we might as well keep up with the trend of having all of our major life transitions occur at once! After all, we did graduate from college, get married, move, and start graduate school/Thomas's job all within a three month span. What can I say, we just like keeping things adventurous! ;)
I'll share more details tomorrow, but for now I just wanted to share the news and our overwhelming joy with anyone and everyone who will listen! We can't even begin to thank God enough for our marriage and this beautiful gift of life. I just can't say it enough - God is SO good!!!
"All good giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no alteration or shadow caused by change."
- James 1:17
In case you're wondering, we took these pictures with a tripod next to an exit ramp off the highway - there's no shame when you're this excited about a baby! ;)
