7 Quick Takes Friday: Volume 43

I wrote a post about envy this week after learning so many good things this week at our Bible study! Colleen commented with these wise words:

"Danielle Bean gave a talk that I was at, and she said "Don't compare your interior with anyone's exterior". That has stuck in my mind ever since, and I always think about it. I always compare all my interior flaws with another's exterior displays of a happy life, beautiful face, awesome kids. I have no clue what her interior life is like, yet I compare my worst to her best. It's so easy to do , and once you realize it, it's so easy to stop!"

So, so true!  We don't completely know what's going on in anyone's life.  With social media, we often see all the good parts of someone's life, but we don't see their struggles and their difficulties.  Also, Isaiah 55:8-9 recommended the book The Hidden Power of Kindness, and I am definitely going to have to add that one to my reading list!

Speaking of reading, one of my friends is looking for a good book either written by or about Mother Teresa.  Does anyone have some good suggestions? Thanks!! :)

Kari posted this video this week, and I absolutely love it!  How beautiful is that man's love for his wife??

Thomas and I are almost finished reading through Proverbs together, and I'm thankful for this verse we read.  God definitely spoke to me at the right time.

"The fear of man brings a snare,
but he who trusts in the Lord is safe."
-Proverbs 29:25

I came across an awesome Catholic app for iPhones this week!  It's called Laudate, and it has the daily mass readings, prayers, the Catechism, the Bible, and so much more!  It's definitely worth checking out!

We stay so entertained in t
his household!

Thomas showed me how if you rub a balloon on your hair and hold it up against running water, the static causes the water to bend.  Haha :)

I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend!  I don't have too much going on except for ice skating on Sunday with some friends from my program!  Also, ext week is my last week of class before spring break!  I am really looking forward to that week!

  2. I've never heard of that balloon trick! I thought you were going to say if you rubbed it on your hair, it would stick to a wall. My kids are gonna be all over this one :)

  6. I read the book "Come Be My Light" during Lent last year, which is about Mother Teresa's dark night of the soul. I expected it to be almost entirely about her interior life, but there was a significant portion of the book devoted to her founding the Missionaries of Charity that I really enjoyed. It has real letters and journal entries from her, which made me feel so close to her. Definitely recommend it! Have a good weekend!

  8. Thanks for the App recommendation! I use iMissal and it's nice to have the daily mass readings available. Most of the time, the complete reading isn't in the missalette.

    Have a great weekend! :)

  12. I have that app - it's also available on Android.

Envy is definitely something I struggle with when reading some blogs so I always have to remind myself to keep my eyes on my own paper (something Arwen Mosher said).

  13. Love the Laudate app! I'm currently reading My Life with the Saints by James Martin and he discusses the authorized biography, Mother Teresa, by Kathryn Spink. I have it on my to-read list. I also want to read some of the ones that the others are suggesting!
