Ski Weekend with My In-Laws

I had such a wonderful weekend!  My only complaint is that it went by too fast, but then again, don't they all?  Thomas's parents took us skiing, and I had so much fun!  I haven't been since high school, so I was thankful that I was able to make it down the mountain, and even more so that I went the whole weekend without falling or breaking any more bones! ;)
The place we stayed at was SO cool!!  I have never stayed at a ski resort before, so it was such a neat experience!

Our lodge was right at the top of one of the ski runs, so we walked outside to see this!
It was really awesome to be able to ski straight down the mountain from our hotel!
I had a really good time skiing with Thomas and his parents!  My in-laws are GREAT skiers.  As you probably know, they are from England.  Well, in England it's common for people to take a week long vacation to go skiing in Europe in February.  They learned how to ski in Austria, where the week consisted of four hour lessons a day!  Everyone takes ski lessons, regardless of their skill level.  How cool is that?

The weather on Saturday was absolutely perfect!  The sky was blue, the sun was shining, and the temperature was just right!  We couldn't have asked for anything better than that.  We spent the whole day enjoying the slopes.

After skiing all day, we went to mass at a cute little chapel that was about a two minute walk from our lodge.
Both sides of the chapel were made out of glass, and right after receiving the Eucharist, there was a spectacular sunset outside of the church.  I can't even begin to describe how peaceful it was to sit there after receiving the body of Christ.  God is so, so good.

Here's a brief glimpse of the sunset after mass, but it really doesn't even begin to capture the bright reds.
Thomas and I had a chance to walk around a little bit to explore the village after mass, and it was so cozy all lit up!

We skied all morning on Sunday, and then Thomas and I headed back on the long trek home.  We did take a few pit stops at the scenic overlooks because they are so breathtaking!

I just love the mountains.  I would up and move there in a heartbeat if it weren't for the snowy, icy roads in the winter!

God has richly blessed with so many wonderful opportunities over this past year, and I am so appreciative that my in-laws took us on this trip with them!  I had such a great weekend skiing with everyone, and I'm sad that it all had to end so soon.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Love,
Caitlin

  4. Ditto to what Jeannine said! It is SO VERY wise of you to be taking these get aways and seeing things that you don't normally do, for once you have children, it really because more difficult to do so. Good for you!
