We just started our series at church on the 7 deadly sins and 7 lively virtues by Father Barron, and it was really awesome!  Here's the post on what I learned about pride.  I definitely have a lot to work on in this area!

-2-
I couldn't really fit this into that post, but in the introduction Father Barron talked about God's love for us.  He said that God does not need us, yet he still created us out of love.  I don't know about you, but thinking about that puts me in complete awe.

Thomas and I went to go listen to a priest speak at our church last night, and something finally clicked in my head.  I have had the absolute hardest time understanding redemptive suffering.  I have read a bit about it, but it still never really made sense to me.
think I might get it now!  The priest said that suffering is not redemptive in and of itself, but it is through refusing to be overcome by the meaninglessness of suffering that we find redemption.  That simple explanation made so much more sense to me than anything else I've read about it! I guess I'm slower than everyone else, but it finally clicked!

I finally gave Thomas his Valentine's Day gift this week, just a little bit late... I made something I saw on Pinterest - the deck of cards with 52 reasons why I love him.  I know it's not very original!  However, I definitely recommend making this for your significant other if you need an inexpensive, sentimental gift idea!   Plus, boys don't care if you get gift ideas from Pinterest! :)

Two sweet women, Patty and Cindy, both wrote guest posts for The Catholic Marriage Series this week!  Patty wrote "When Marriage is Hard... and Cindy Wrote "Happy Wife, Happy Husband." I definitely recommend that you read both of these posts!! These ladies provide some wonderful wisdom for marriage.
As always, if you would like to contribute to the series, just send me an email!

Check out this post about contraception and romantic relationships, which has links to a bunch of interesting articles!

I have to go to some presentations for school this morning, but after that I am heading out to go skiing!  Thomas's parents are taking us, and we are both really excited about it!  I haven't been in years and years, so please pray that I don't break my other knee...I'm only kind of kidding! Hope you all have an amazing weekend! :)

  1. I've been really interested in the dynamics of contraception and attraction for a few years now, ever since I read how it was suggested that birth control can alter how women view men and potential spouses--thanks for sharing this article! Have so much fun skiing!!

  2. Skiing! Oh to be young again! Have a wonderful time...My kids refuse to believe that I used to snowmobile with Steve! They demand proof...and of course in my 20's I refused to ever have my picture taken in a snowmobile suit and helmet. Guess they will have to take my word for it! Have a great weekend, friend!

  12. That explanation of redemptive suffering is awesome! I never really got it either, and just kind of ignored it. I never understood "offering it up", but now it makes a whoooole lot more sense!

    Have fun skiing!

  15. Redemptive suffering is probably the most difficult concept for me to understand. I really appreciate the wisdom you've passed along, and I'd love to hear more on the topic if you are wondering what to write about next! Or even just some recommended reading material?
