Thomas and I flew overnight and landed in England on Friday morning. We were completely exhausted from not sleeping, yet we were exhilarated by the fact that we were about to spend the week in England!
We took the tube to get to the train station, and I am sure there were many Londoners laughing at the tourists taking a picture on the tube that they take everyday. :)
We then got onto a train for my first train ride ever, and we headed to Swindon!
Thomas's grandparents picked us up from the train station to bring us to their home where we stayed for the week. I really cannot say enough good things about the two of them. From the moment they picked us up, I felt instantly loved and cherished as a member of the family. They were so warm, welcoming, and hospitable, and I am truly grateful that Thomas and I had the opportunity to spend time with them. I also have to add that they are in their 80s, yet they are still very sharp and incredibly witty.
We spent the day with them on Friday, and we also took some time to walk around and explore the area. His grandparents live in Lechlade, the most quaint and charming place I have ever seen. It's a small village next to the Thames river, and the beauty of the village is better described with pictures than words. It's unlike anything I have ever seen in America.
This church is over 500 years old!
