Weekend Fun: Movies, Pedal Boating, Chili etc.

It's been so wonderful to relax and spend time with Thomas this weekend!  I realized that I can go to the movies at our school for free and bring a guest, so we went to see Snow White and the Huntsmen on Friday night.  It wasn't really up my alley, and I think I'll just stick to the animated Disney version, but it was still so much fun to have a movie date together!  We'll definitely be taking advantage of the free movies more often!

We got up early on Saturday for our long run, and it wiped us out.  We had to replace all those burned calories, so we went out for a buffet lunch, stuffed ourselves with amazing food, and enjoyed talking about what the future might hold. :)

After relaxing for a while after lunch, we went to a park to go pedal boating! I had absolutely no idea that there's a park really close to us that has pedal boats, and we were so excited to get out there together.

It was absolutely beautiful outside!  Poor Thomas was doing most of the hard pedaling work while I was distracted snapping pictures, per usual.  We had so much fun though, and we'll definitely be doing that again...just maybe not after doing a long run because our legs were tired! :)

This morning we went to church, and I've said it before, but I just LOVE our priests.  I always leave feeling so encouraged and inspired to be a better person.  Their enthusiasm for the Catholic faith is contagious.  Since today is Catechetical Sunday,  one of our priests talked about how we are all called to be teachers of the faith and to spread our love of God to everyone around us.   I definitely will to work on being a better witness to the Catholic faith! Since church I've mostly been studying because I have my first exam of the semester tomorrow!  I did get a study break in to go watch Thomas' first soccer game of the season.  They had a tough game and lost, but I'm glad I was able to go support him and watch him hustle out there!

I'm sad the weekend is about over, but I'm just so grateful I had the opportunity to spend so much quality time with Thomas on Friday and Saturday.  He brings so much joy to my life and helps me to keep things in perspective.  I thank God for him every day.

We have some vegetarian chili cooking right now, and I am so eager for it to be done!  After eating with Thomas, I'm off to study some more!  Wish me luck! :)

  3. I follow you from #cathsorority, I don't often comment because I usually read on one of my mobile devices on reader, and it's just a pain! But, wanted to tell you that I love reading your posts about how you two enjoy being newlyweds and each other. Also, your chili looks awesome and I favorited it to add to our Friday meal lists!

  5. Caitlin, when one reads your posts, he can clearly see what a faith-filled person you are. Enjoy those weekends! We have one of those paddle boat ponds nearby but I've never taken the kids on them. From what I recall, I thought ours was a bit $$. Have a great week!

  7. All chilis can be thickened at the end of cooking. Just make a slurry: mix a couple of spoonfuls of cornstarch with some cold water until dissolved, then add it to the chili.
