The best part of this week was our road trip to go see my brother and watch his football game!
The worst part of this week was that my parents had to put down our family dog, our sweet Sheltie of 16 years. It's amazing that he made it that long with our crazy fam, especially when my sister and I used to dress him up with our dance clothes when we were little (yes, him). He was so playful and such a calm dog (although he transformed whenever the phone rang), and I am going to miss him greeting me when I go home. A sad loss for all of us.
So far I LOVE the book Unglued that I'm reading with friends in my program. Here's a little excerpt from this week:
"I can't control the things that happen to me each day, but I can control how I think about them. I can say to myself, "I have a choice to have destructive thoughts or constructive thoughts right now. I can wallow in what's wrong and make things worse, or I can ask God for a better perspective to help me see good even when I don't feel good."
Yes, yes, yes! It's going to be a good semester of reading through that book!
Kohl's seriously has the BEST customer service. We were recently having trouble with the vacuum we got as a wedding gift a year ago. The rubber belt inside kept breaking after one use, and we'd have to order new ones. The vacuum wouldn't suck up a thing without an intact belt. Eventually, we decided it was about time to invest in a new vacuum but Thomas was thankfully smart enough to ask Kohl's if there was anything we could do about it. They let us bring our old, used vacuum back to the store. No receipt. No proof of purchase. Nothing. They gave us a merchandise credit to pick out a new vacuum!
Sign up here to read the Catechism in one year! You'll be emailed a small piece to read everyday.
This week at school I got to drive a rehab van using hand controls for the gas and breaks instead of my feet! I think I definitely just need to just stick to a regular car though.
It's supposed to rain this weekend, but if not, I think Thomas and I are going to do some fun fall things!
