7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 22)

One of the best parts of this week?  Meeting lots of wonderful women and their men! :)

Other amazing parts...hiking with my sweet husband, a frozen yogurt night with some awesome people from my program, and volunteering with my husband at an autism event last night where we got to play with the cutest little one year old!

I am so thrilled that the maintenance men will be done working on our apartment today after three weeks of being here!  I am a little bit of a nervous person, so I don't like having them here when I am home alone.  I'm also excited to not have men in the apartment when I'm trying to get ready for the day!  I know it will make me appreciate peace and quiet and privacy so much more.

Here's a great cheesecake recipe!

I am loving one of my classes at school right now, and I am learning so, so much!  This week we cooked grilled cheese in the kitchen in wheelchairs and cut apples using one hand.  You stick the apple on the nails so it stays still while cutting, which enables people who have had a stroke to cut their food independently. There are also raised edges on the cutting board so you can make a sandwich on it with one hand without the bread sliding everywhere.  I should start throwing in an occupational therapy tidbit in every 7 quick takes because it's really an awesome profession! :)

Our next couple's Bible study, Walking Toward Eternity, starts on Monday! I am so excited for it, and I will definitely share what I learn on the blog!

I am so looking forward to a weekend with no plans.  I am completely exhausted from the week, and have a long day ahead today!  Does anyone have any fun plans?

  1. It was so, so good to meet you. And that OT tidbit is really cool! Sometimes I wish I would've stayed in that major. Sigh.
Jim and I are driving back to our college to hang out with our friends that are still there (and my brother!) I'm probably way more excited than I should be :)

  2. I also just realized how creepy fast I commented on this. It just happened to pop up in my reader at the right time I guess :)

  3. Keep the to tip coming! They can help everyone. I wish I had one of those boards for sandwich making. Or, at least, keeping little hands from reaching the sandwich while I make it. Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. I hope you enjoy your plan free weekend Caitlin! It is always nice to have time to refresh and relax!

  5. Ha, its so fun to hear about what your doing in class and how our OT programs compare. Today my daughter got to come to school with me and my class did an hour long evaluation on her :) And the cheesecake looks so yummy, thanks for sharing!

  6. You know, the men working around me would make me completely nervous as well. I don't blame you there. Enjoy your weekend of nothingness :)

  7. This mommy of a kid with OT stuff in his IEP would appreciate the tips.
