7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 19)

-1-
I never wrote a post about last weekend, but we went out of town to visit Thomas's family.  They are so hilarious, and we always seem to have a good time with them!  They took us out for lunch one day to an English pub, which was pretty cool!  It was so nice to see everyone, and they even had my mom and sister come over for dinner and games on Saturday night.

My good friend Susan came over all day yesterday to visit, and I had so much fun with her! She's one of those friends who I might not see for months at a time, but as soon as I see her we pick back up right where we left off.  She cracks me up, and we had so much fun catching up, walking around the mall, and just hanging out together.

Thomas and I had to do a little bit of problem solving this week!  Our bed has been broken for a multitude of reasons, and we finally picked up a piece for it when we went home this weekend.  When we put it back together again, we realized that the box spring is too small for the frame of the bed, so long story short, it's going to break again unless we can fix it.  Our solution was to stuff books into the side of the bed.  It's working right now, so we're hoping it continues to hold up!
Yes, the name of that book really is "Hey Whipple, Squeeze This."  It's one of Thomas's advertising textbooks from college, and for some reason the name has always cracked me up!

I got some great news this week!  I got a graduate assistantship position in the Education department at school. God has blessed me with way too much and I am truly grateful.

Pinterest is amazing for finding ideas.  I came across this tip for cleaning the microwave, and it worked like a charm!  So easy!

I am REALLY excited about a cheap date that I found on Groupon!  It is absolutely perfect for Thomas, and I am so excited to surprise him! I am not good at keeping secrets, and it's killing me not to tell him what it is (even though he's hassling me about it!)  I literally bought it the second I saw the deal because I know he's going to love it!

I'm looking forward to some great things coming up!  I am so excited to see some of my friends this weekend! Also, I am starting my second year of graduate school next week. Crazy!

Love,
Caitlin

It sounds like you had a great week! Hopefully your bed fix holds up for a while. Silly breakable beds!

  2. My best friend and I are like that too, Caitlin... we can talk or text every day, or go months inbetween. It never matters. We pick up right where we left off! I met her the very first day of college, and we have been best friends ever since. In fact, she is my oldest daughter's godmother! And we love Groupon too! Have a great day!

  5. Second year of grad school - way to go!! Oh, beds falling apart. I will never forget the night that Dan rolled over and our mattress and box spring fell through the frame. It was just at a bad angle, but it was so scary!
Something along the same lines as your microwave tip - you can put a wet cloth in and microwave it, and the steam will loosen the grease/dirt and the cloth will take care of cleaning. You just have to wear gloves because it gets really hot! I will have to try adding a dash of vinegar today - I've been putting off the poor microwave :)
    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Haha yea, I accidentally broke it when we first put it together, and then it just continued breaking. I will have to try that out with the cloth! I hope you have a good weekend too! :)

  7. Thanks so much for the microwave tip! I heard that adding a little lemon juice, helps the vinegar smell as well. Congrats on your 2nd year of OT school, I will be starting my 2nd year as well. Getting closer to being done!

    2. Thanks! It's a sped up program, so a little less than 2 years, so I'll be done with everything the start of July! But only 1 more semester of classes :) How about you?
