7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 15)

Check out Mandi's guest post "Marriage as a Gift" for the Catholic Marriage Series.  It's very well written, and I know you will enjoy it!

Life is good and this past week has been wonderful! :)  Over the weekend Thomas surprised me and said he was going to take me out for a date! We went out to see the movie Brave.  Yes, it is a kid's movie, and yes, we thoroughly enjoyed it and laughed our heads off! Afterwards, we went out for milkshakes at Cookout.  It was so wonderful to go out together, and it was the perfect way to celebrate 11 months of marriage! <3

I had a girls' day with my mom and sister this week.  We drove around looking for a store that my mom wanted to go to that was supposed to be only about 20 minutes away. Well, about 45 minutes later the GPS took us out to the middle of nowhere.  We drove around for quite a while and eventually found the store.  It was this tiny little house...
There was a sign on the door that said it was open, but no one was there! Needless to say, that was quite an adventure!

My dad's birthday is in about a week, but my mom thought it would be fun for us to throw him a little surprise birthday party since the whole family was able to be together this week!  He definitely did not see it coming which made it even more fun!

My dad's favorite cake is angel food cake, but we decided to take a non-traditional route this year.  My mom, sister, and I made him some angel food cake kabobs with strawberries drizzled with white and milk chocolate (found on Pinterest). They turned out really well and he loved them!

We also had the chance to go to the beach this week with my family for the Fourth of July.  So much fun! My brother brought along an American flag to put up behind us.

My family is hilarious to hang out with.

This week has been so busy, but so, so much fun! I say it all the time, but I am SO blessed with such an awesome husband and family!  I hope you had a great week and 4th of July! Enjoy the weekend! :)

Love,
Caitlin

  7. Oh wow, those kabobs are such a great idea! What kind of store was it? My grandmother used to run a store out of her house too. She made sweet floral arrangements (she made the arrangements for our wedding) and other knick-knacks.

  9. The kabobs look really yummy! I'm glad you had such a fun week. It's finally starting to get warm enough here to make the beach sound like a good idea - is the water warm enough that you swim? Or just hang out in the sun?
