7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 14)

-1-
If you haven't already, make sure you check out Ann-Marie's guest post reflecting on five years of marriage! It's wonderful! :)

-2-
We made these spinach/artichoke/feta stuffed shells this week, and they are so, so yummy!

-3-
Thomas and I spent some more time at the pond this week (of course), and he fed turtles out of his hand! So crazy!

-4-
A major cause of excitement this week was root beer floats.  Apparently, Thomas has never had a root beer float before! I will cut him a little slack since he is not from the U.S, but I was still pretty surprised.  We went off to the grocery store  one night to pick up some vanilla ice cream and root beer to make some late night floats.  It's also kind of funny because I don't drink soda at all, but I really like root beer floats for some reason.

-5-
I have been working on making Thomas a gift for our one year anniversary! I am getting more and more excited about it when I write down the date and see that it's 7/__ because we keep getting closer to 7/30! ;)

-6-
I wrote a post about coming to terms with God's plans this week after not being able to find a cheaper apartment to move to.  I have been reading through Proverbs this week and was further encouraged by the following verses.  They reminded me not to worry because God has a plan.

"In his mind a man plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps.
-Proverbs 16:9

"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the decision of the Lord that endures."
-Proverbs 18:21

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs at the days to come."
-Proverbs 31:25
(Talking about the ideal wife - no anxiety about the future)

-7-
School is a little bit stressful right now, but I only have two more weeks of the semester and then I get a nice break before the fall semester!

Have a great weekend!

Love,
Caitlin

  2. Yaay half a month til your anniversary! and less than 2 months when we can hopefully meet :D
It's still funny how he hasn't had a rootbeer float. They're so delicious! I sometimes like mixing vanilla ice cream with some orange juice and ice and make orange creamsicles :)

  3. Where is Thmas from? You should have a guess the country post! My guess is Eastern Europe. Ok, I guess that would make a guess the region post.

  5. Last July 30 was one of the top two contender dates for our wedding. We ended up going with 8/13 instead, ince 13 was a special number for us as we began dating ona Friday the 13th, in January 2006.

  6. "Freely, fully, faithfully, forever" has repeated in my head many times since reading those profound words here. Thank you so much to Ann-Marie for sharing her beautiful thoughts, and for you, Caitlin, for sharing your brilliant friends with us.

And speaking of the Proverbs 31 woman, have you read Kimberly Hahn's series, Life-Nurturing Love? They are four books with corresponding DVD bible studies for marriage (Chosen and Cherished), homemaking (Graced and Gifted), family life (Beloved and Blessed), and raising teens/young adults (Legacy of Love). Her wisdom is so profound, and she goes through proverbs 31 and links it to all of the important stages of a woman's life.

    1. I haven't, but thank you so much for sharing with me! I will need to check it out. I did a Bible study in college on Proverbs 31, and I'd love to do something more in depth like that. :)
