7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 11)

Wednesday was our 10 month wedding anniversary! We were pretty excited about it being double digits. :)  We went out for a frozen yogurt date to celebrate!

Speaking of marriage, I am going to be doing a series of guest posts on my blog on Catholic marriage.  Let me know if you would like to write a post!  It could be on anything at all - what it means to you, what you do to keep God at the center of your marriage, the blessings you have seen through marriage, NFP, sacrificing for the good of your spouse, etc.  Either leave me a comment letting me know or send me an email at catholiccookiejar@gmail.com.  I would love to have posts from a variety of people of different ages with different experiences! You could be preparing for marriage, married for a month, or married for 50 years. :)

Here are my posts from this week:  I took a mini trip with my husband to a historic town and went kayaking, made this wreath for our front door, cooked this summer vegetable macaroni and cheese, and learned more about wisdom at our Bible study on James.

-4-
One of the best parts of this week has been eating fresh watermelon. I love the summer time!

-5-
Thomas and I are officially signed up for our next marathon this fall.  Time to get our butts moving into training!

-6-
Do you like the new blog layout?  Thomas has been working on it for me this week.

I am loving my summer schedule and enjoying free time!  I don't have class until 2:30 today, so I might just have to spend a little time at the pool.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)

Love,
Caitlin

  1. Love the wreath. I want to make one for each season. How expensive was the wreath? Where did you buy it? I know I can get decorations for it at the Dollar Store.

    1. Hey Megan! Here's a link to the wreath info - http://catholiccookiejar.blogspot.com/2012/05/diy-door-wreath.html I got everything at Michael's, but that's actually a really good idea to look for stuff at the dollar store! I bet you could find even better deals. I think the wreath was $8 or 9, but we used a 50% off coupon. The whole project was about $17.

  4. The wreath looks great! I personally can't ever put a wreath on my door (it reminds me of death, since wreaths on the door used to be a symbol that the household was morning the death of a member), but I love them! I always have trouble coming up with non-wreath door decorations though, they are so popular!

Wow, a marathon? You're crazy! Maybe I can work up a piece about our second anniversary for your series. No promises though!

  7. Love the frozen yogurt picture, the one on the right is definitely me. I love fruit in mine but I always stick some sour gummy worms in whatever concoction I make :-)

  10. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who likes gummy worms with their froyo/ice cream! I don't know if they have Cold Stone Creamery by you but that's where I always go for my gummy worm-ice cream fix. Also, I love your Bible Study posts! Keep 'em coming! :)

    1. Haha I know it seems to be many people's favorite! :) We do have a Cold Stone, but I have not been there in a long time. We got caught up in the frozen yogurt craze! I am so happy to hear you are enjoying the Bible Study posts. We are loving the study!
