I am so thankful for all the time Thomas and I were able to spend together this weekend after being apart! Friday night we watched a movie, played games, and relaxed together. The more exciting part of the weekend was going to the park where we got engaged (On Tuesday it will have been 2 years ago...how is time going by so fast?!) to have a picnic together to celebrate our 6 year anniversary of our first date! We actually had not been there since we got engaged, so it was really sweet to go back and reminisce.
Isn't this picnic basket cute? My brother and sister made it for us and gave it to us with a bunch of picnic and beach stuff as a wedding gift! Thomas proposed with the red blanket two years ago on a picnic, which is a story for another day! :)
I of course took advantage of the opportunity to take lots of pictures and play around with the camera! ;)
I also got to see some of my favorite girls from college! I miss them so, so much, but I am glad that we're always planning get togethers! Being in the same state at least makes it a little bit easier!
Thomas had a soccer game this weekend, but I didn't take pictures there because I didn't want to embarrass him in front of all the men! :) His team ended up losing, but they put up a good fight and he ran his tail off out there. Thankfully the rain held off until literally right after the game finished.
We went to mass last night, and our priest (who is so, so full of love) gave such an encouraging homily, and he reminded us that our goal on this earth is to get to heaven. When it comes down to it, we must show our love to other people to get there (He gave the example of Matthew 25: 31-46). I think it's so easy to sometimes feel defeated or feel like a bad person after doing something sinful and to wonder if I'll ever make it to heaven. However, he said that we're all going to mess up and make mistakes, but God just wants us to humbly confess our sins and feel truly sorry, as well as to live a life of love towards others around us. I also thought it was encouraging to be reminded that nothing in this world is as important as our spiritual life - not houses, clothes, cars, anything. I know we all know that, but it's always good to be reminded to focus on the more important things in life.
I hope everyone else had a nice weekend! :)
