My First Sewing Project

It's been such a great break from school so far, and I am loving not having to even think about school right now.  I have been spending a lot of time with my grandma, and last night I took my mom and grandma to get their nails done for Mother's Day, and then my grandma took us out for ice cream.  I love the two of them so much, and I'm so glad the timing of my break worked out to come see them!  They have been teaching me how to sew, and today I finally finished my first sewing project, this little pillow!

It is far from perfect, as the pillow form does not quite fill the corners and the bottom line is crooked because I didn't realize how hard it would be to sew the inner line with the pillow inside, but it's done!  And, it's a multigenerational project. ;)  My mom taught me how to use the pattern, cut with her fancy board and cutter, and sew it.  Then my grandma taught me how to hand sew the outer edge once the pillow was in there.

Seeing as it's the first thing I have ever sewn, I am pleased with the results, although it still makes me laugh to see how messed up the bottom part is.  BUT it's a pillow, and it's really not a big deal if it's a little crooked, as my mom keeps reminding me! ;)  No one will notice except for me!

Love,
Caitlin

  1. Great job!!! It looks fine. You won't be able to tell especially when it is sitting on bed or couch. No one will notice regardless.

  2. I agree, it does look great and no one will ever notice! So neat that you did it with your mother and grandmother - that alone makes it so very special :) Enjoy the rest of your time off!!
