7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 9)

My break from school was great, but now it's back to classes for our summer session! It should be a pretty good semester, and it seems like I'll have a little more free time.
Now, when I say back to school, this is a little of what it entails...
We work really hard, but we also get to have a bit of fun in there! :)

Here are two of my posts from this week: Why Do Catholics Believe Faith and Good Works are Necessary for Salvation? (in my Book of James series)  and a recipe for Apple Pie Caramel Oatmeal Bars.  :)

I worked on a little alteration sewing project this week.  I bought a shirt from Old Navy almost a year ago that I haven't worn at all.  It was one of those shirts that I convinced myself I liked because it was only a few dollars and too good of a deal to pass up.  That's never a good idea because it just sits in my closet, but sometimes it's hard to pass up a good deal in the thrill of the moment.  I figured there was nothing to lose with trying to work on sewing it since I have not worn it, so I gave it a whirl.  It was the band on the bottom that I really didn't like because it made it look kind of funny. I should have taken a before picture of it on me but I didn't think about it.

I realized I didn't take into account the fact that the bottom would be flared out because it was scrunched from the elastic.  So I attempted to take in the sides.  Here's how it turned out:
Starting to kind of get the hang of this sewing thing!

Here's another beautiful video that might make you cry.

Thomas's mom was sweet and gave us her Kohls' Cash, so we picked out a mandolin slicer last night.  I am excited to try making some regular potato and sweet potato chips!

It should be another great weekend!  I am really looking forward to spending lots of time with my husband after being apart all last week.  We're planning on having a relaxing night in tonight.  I'm also going to my college town Saturday to see some of my girlfriends! I can't wait! What are you doing?

  1. Great job on the shirt!!! I have a shirt that has the same type of thing on bottom and on sleeves. Looks ridiculous on. Given to me. I would love to fix it like that! Need a sewing machine first.
Shopping with a friend tomorrow for baby items for a friend's baby shower.

  2. I was given a shirt like that and tried to cut it off as well. It totally did not work out for me. Well done indeed!
