Fajitas, Festivals, and a Dog Pound

What an awesome weekend!  It was my last weekend for fun this semester because I am probably going to spend the majority of my time preparing for exams for the next two weeks.  One of my best friends came to visit on Friday night, and we had a great night! A girl in my program had everyone over for fajitas, so we went over there for a little bit and then came back to my apartment to chat for quite a while!  We used to see each other every day in college because we were in the same sorority, and we worked together in our dorm.  It's been really hard living in a different town, and I was sad to see her go on Saturday morning.

On Saturday afternoon my husband and I went for a run, and we came across a huge festival that was going on in town.  We decided to go home, shower, and come back to check everything out. We had a really good time! There were vendors lining the streets, fair food, and lots of music.

We hung out on the riverfront at the end of the festival to relax and people watch.

After the festival we headed over to a cancer fundraising event with people from my program.  The event was holiday themed, and our program picked Adopt a Dog Day.   Our booth was a Dog Pound, and people could pay for their friend go into the cage we had.  Then that person had to raise as much money as their friend paid for them to get in to get back out.  It was absolutely hilarious, and we raised a ton of money!

My husband had a soccer game today, and he rocked it! They tied 1-1, but he scored a goal!  We also went for a walk today and saw tons of critters.  Other than that, we've just been hanging out!

I am looking forward to tomorrow night because our next couple's Bible study starts on the book of James.  It should be a really good one!  The study is by Jeff Cavins, and we loved the one in the fall we did by him.  Stay tuned, I may do a series on James on my blog.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and that you have a wonderful week! I'm about to head off to mass, and then my hubby and I will be cooking Indian food and probably watching a movie.

Love,
Caitlin

  1. I just read the book of James this week. I really liked it. I even made notes on some of my favorite passages.
