7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 5) - Pinspiration

I haven't had too much going on this week, so I thought I'd post some craft/DIY ideas from Pinterest for my seven quick takes. Here's one craft I've made, and six more things I'd love to try. I will hopefully have more time this summer to get crafty because our school schedule is supposed to be pretty laid back.

I saw this...

And made this...

I used a 3-picture frame, scrapbook paper, and stickers that I got at the craft store, all with coupons.  The glass works as a dry erase board when you use dry erase markers.  We love having this in our kitchen to write each other sweet notes! In the future we want to do individual frames for our children so the whole family can write each other notes. :)

I'd really like to make a wreath for our front door for the spring and summer.  I love this wreath from Teach Craft Love.

I also really like this one from Shanty 2 Chic.  Which one is your favorite? I can't decide.

-3-
Here are photo coasters from Oopsey Daisy.  Apparently the actual tiles were only 19 cents from Home Depot, which is way cheaper than buying coasters.

-4-
Here's a really cool idea to transform a rubber door mat from the Dollar Store into wall art.  How do people come up with these things? This is from Dollar Store Crafts.

-5-
Here's a menu board from The Creative Mama. I really need to make something like this because I have a bad tendency of finding lots of great meals, making my list of groceries, buying them, and then forgetting what meals I was planning on making with the food.

-6-
I love the idea of making the pantry look more uniform and organized.  Here's a neat idea to repurpose jars from Thrifty and Chic.

-7-
Considering I am working on sewing straight lines, this clutch from elm street life will probably not be made for quite a while, but I think it's so cute! I would do it in a different color and pattern though.

What kinds of crafty things have you made recently? Do you have any good ones on the to do list?

Love,
Caitlin

    1. Thanks Katie! Sounds good if you don't mind waiting a few years for me to learn how to do that haha! :)

  2. Great ideas! I made a set of monogrammed coasters as Christmas gifts two years ago. (Family and friends) They loved them!

  3. Pretty ideas! Once I got my daughter's communion all planned up, I canceled my pinterest account. I couldn't manage it...BUT, I like reading about your ideas. They're all pre-selected, so I don't get "Pinterest-brain!"

I made one of those frames for my husband for Valentine's day! http://jeannine-graceandpeace.blogspot.com/2012/02/pinning-it-down-6-valentines-day.html

    Thanks for sharing your ideas...

    1. Pinterest can be a lot to handle sometimes, and sometimes it's a little distracting from schoolwork. That frame is beautiful, I love it! :)

  4. Love the frame as well! That is a great reminder to make each other feel loved/special even when life gets hectic. Both of the wreaths are super cute; overall I like the first one the best but I also really like the letter initial in the second. Maybe you could combine that with the first wreath!

Thanks so much for your sweet comment and advice yesterday! I'm excited about following you as well! :) Have a great weekend!

  5. O My goodness I am in love with the frame that says "I love you because you still hold my hand while we watch movies" that is the cuuuuutest thing ever!!! I am drawing inspiration from you. Maybe I'll make one of those in the future after me and Greg move in together.

  6. I love Pinterest so this post is awesome! I love your take on the "I Love you Because" frame and one of my friends made me a set of the coasters for Christmas and they are fabulous and a great personal gift. And #7, well I'm thinking that needs to be my next project :)

  9. We have a similar frame in our kitchen. I put scrapbook paper in it for a background, a different one for each month of the year. It's just fun. I like the first wreath a ton, and I love the coasters!

  11. Hello! I just recently found your blog and I've been enjoying following you!

I've been sewing for about three years now, and honestly, once you've mastered the art of a straight line, you're set! A complex project is just a long series of straight lines. It sounds like you're off to a great start!

  12. I love that frame so cute! I remember when I was little my mom would write me notes in my lunch and always thought that was "cool."

#5 - I bought all the stuff to make this a few months ago. It looks so cute! I just need to sit down and actually make it!

  13. That is such a great idea for a frame! I'll have to do that for our house :)
I like making frames for my friends with clear glue and tissue paper. My best friend also just made me a bracelet of buttons! It is so cute!
