7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 4)

If you haven't seen it yet, check out my guest post on Mandi's blog Catholic Newlywed.  It's all about our experience of marrying young, and some of the joys and blessings in our married life.

My recent obsession is gnocchi.  I had never eaten it until this year, and I love it! I wish I had discovered this earlier in life. We made this ricotta gnocchi from Budget Bytes, and it turned out amazingly well. It was really easy to make and incredibly cheap.  Also, my mother in law gave us sweet potato gnocchi from Trader Joe's, and it was pretty good too! Now, I know the "g" is silent, but my husband and I can't help pronouncing it "ga-nocchi," it's just way more fun!

I love getting mail from outside of the U.S!  Easter Sunday was my birthday, so I got a few cards from my husband's family from England this week.  The last time I got them was for our wedding RSVPs, and I still have some of the stamps saved because I think they're really neat.

I just got a new camera from my in-laws for my birthday and I am so, so, so excited about it!  The battery was charging all night, and I can't wait to test it out!  I know my family and husband are cringing right now about the increase in picture taking that is about to happen...

Have you ever heard of pisanki?  They are decorated Easter eggs that are a Polish tradition.  My husband's dad Polish, so we got some pisanki for Easter from his family. They make really pretty Easter decorations.

I am so excited because one of my very best friends from college is coming to visit tonight to celebrate my birthday!  I can't wait for the day to go by!

Love,
Caitlin

    2. Thank you Stacy! The flowers were my favorite detail from the wedding. Our florist was amazing, and way less expensive than any other florists we met with.

  2. A fun post! Have a blast with your camera. Learn as much as you can about it and just shoot away. Mine is so much a part of my life. I love the memories that come from it. I also have a digital frame in my kitchen where I put all the photos into it via USB drive. The Littles love to look at them. I organize them by year so when we are bored with one year we throw in an older year and laugh at how cute they were as little munchkins.

    1. That's awesome! My grandma is 100% Italian, so I'm surprised she hasn't made them for us before. I feel like it's something that people either really love or really dislike. Have a good weekend!

    2. My grandmother is Argentinian and she always used to make homemade gnocchi (many Argies are descended from Italian immigrants) as well!! Never tried it myself though but now that I'm craving some I just might try. Beautiful pisanki!! :)
