Weekend Recap

It's been a really nice, laid-back weekend.  Sometimes I love weekends without commitments or plans. My husband got to come home two hours earlier than usual on Friday because he was out of town for work and didn't have to go back to the office when he finished. It was amazing getting to spend some extra time together! The weather was gorgeous, so we went for a walk to the grocery store to get a movie from Red Box to watch later in the evening.  He was my chef for the night, and made us some yummy breakfast for dinner!
On Saturday we decided to check out Aldi after Kathleen commented about about the cost of peppers on this blog post.  We ended up getting a bunch of produce and some canned food for less than $12!  I was absolutely shocked that it was only $0.99 for a carton of strawberries!  I of course had to write down all of the prices at Walmart to compare, and we saved $8.14.  It might not seem like much, but we calculated that  if we saved that much by buying the items that are cheaper at Aldi each week, we would save up $423 over the year, which is pretty significant!  I'd say that's definitely worth the inconvenience of going to two different stores each week to get all the groceries we need.
Later on Saturday we went on a date to go see The Hunger Games! I really, really liked it, but I think I liked the book better.  I always seem to like books better than the movies that come after them just because the movies tend to lose a lot of the details.  Even though I knew the story line, I still felt the adrenaline racing throughout the whole movie!  I also got a little teary eyed during the reaping and after one of the deaths.
We went to the early mass this morning.  I feel like we are already such an old couple, going to bed around 10 and waking up around 6 or 7 on the weekends. My husband was supposed to have a soccer game today, but it got cancelled because the fields are so wet from the rain this weekend, so we played soccer tennis together.  We had a good time, as always!
The rest of today has been spent working on papers and school work.   Our kitchen table has been covered in books and articles for the past few weeks, and I'm hoping to get it back to normal sometime soon!  Also,  I am teaching yoga this week for a class project, but I have never actually done yoga before so it should be interesting.  I have been trying to learn poses and have been teaching my husband for practice.  I am going to be practicing with him again tonight, he is such a good sport when it comes to helping me for school!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Love,
C

  3. I don't think there's every been a movie I liked better than the book! I haven't read The Hunger Games, yet. I am a former High School English teacher (I quit last November to stay at home with my kids) and all my kids loved it! I just haven't gotten around to it.

My husband saw the preview for the movie and really wants to see it. I told him I have to read the book first! As a book lover and former English teacher, I just can't go see a movie if I haven't read the book!

Sounds like a great, fun weekend!

    1. I can't see movies either if I haven't seen the book first! I think it comes from my mom's influence as a teacher and librarian, plus I love reading.
