There are moments when I feel like there couldn't possibly be any more love in my heart for another person! Marriage is a wonderful taste of God's love for us, especially when you strive to love one another the way God loves us.
"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her."
- Ephesians 5:25
Yet I feel like marriage is just a small way of showing us God's unconditional love. We are two imperfect people, and no matter how much we love each other we have times where we hurt each other's feelings or let one another down. What's amazing to me is to think about how much I love my husband and how much greater and perfect God's love is for us. The same thing goes for my family - we have so, so much love for each other, but again we are all imperfect people striving to love one another and occasionally we hurt each other.
God's great love is something I don't think we will ever even be able to fully comprehend or wrap our minds around in this lifetime because it simply transcends everything we know and experience in our world. I do think the love in our relationships shows us God's love for us every day, but I think it's absolutely incredible to reflect sometimes on how much more fantastic his love for us than the love we experience for others.
All we can do is keep striving to love one another more and more each day.
"Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love."
- 1 John 5: 7-8
